A Mil Mi-38PS helicopter was unveiled at the 16th International Salon of Security Equipment – Integrated Security in Kazan. Its maximum range with drop tanks exceeds 1,500 kilometers, a record-breaking performance among Russian helicopters.The helicopter is designed to operate along the Northern Sea Route and carries up to five metric tons of cargo or up to 40 passengers, as per the press service of the Rostec Corporation.The Mi-38PS meets the requirements of the Russian Ministry for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief (EMERCOM) and is intended to protect the population, territories and critical vital installations from natural calamities and industrial accidents.Modern avionics and rescue systems ensure flight safety in adverse weather conditions. The new helicopter will allow first responders to operate at a maximum distance from their anchor bases.“The heavy-duty Mi-38PS helicopter boasts outstanding specifications and performance. Its deployment has extended EMERCOM’s zone of operations in the Far North to the greatest possible extent, including in bad weather and in conditions of a rudimentary infrastructure,” Rostec sources noted.Additional Mi-38PS helicopters will start serving with air fleets of the Krasnoyarsk Comprehensive Rescue Center and the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center.
