Western countries are preventing the development of international maritime logistics and security in the Arctic, but Russia will overcome any obstacles, said Presidential Aide and Chair of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev at the opening of the national conference marking the 85th anniversary of the arrival of the first Allied Dervish Convoy in Arkhangelsk.“Western countries are taking effort to undermine our country’s economic and defense capabilities in the Arctic, preventing the development of international maritime logistics and security in the region. Russia will overcome all obstacles, there is no doubt,” Nikolai Patrushev said.He added that comprehensive implementation of investment projects, the development of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, the development of energy infrastructure, the expansion of scientific research, and provision of reliable security to our Arctic territories and waters will, in aggregate, contribute to Russia’s national security and the better quality of life in the Arctic.
