The Arkhangelsk Region is ready to test the latest Belarusian equipment, including vehicles made by the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), under Arctic conditions, the regional administration’s press service reported following a meeting between regional government officials and the management of the Belavtomaz holding company.According to the report, such testing will make it possible to evaluate the performance of the vehicles under real-world low-temperature conditions and assess their operation on regional routes. The experience gained can then be taken into account when further adapting and improving the equipment.“The Arkhangelsk Region is ready to become a testing ground where new technological solutions can be evaluated under real Arctic conditions. This will give us more reliable equipment, while the manufacturer will gain practical experience that can be used to further improve its products,” the region’s Minister of Transport Sergei Rodnev said.The sides paid particular attention to service and maintenance. There are currently 151 MAZ-206 buses in operation in Arkhangelsk. The buses were purchased in 2023 as part of the city’s public transport reform. They run on compressed natural gas, significantly reducing emissions compared with conventional fuels.“It is important for us to establish cooperation that covers the entire life cycle of the equipment, from selecting models suited to northern conditions to providing high-quality service throughout their operation,” the Arkhangelsk Region minister of transport said.
