During a meeting with Arkhangelsk Region Governor Alexander Tsybulsky, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko voiced strong interest in expanding practical cooperation with the region, according to the press service of the Pomorye government.A significant portion of the talks focused on boosting cargo shipments via the port of Arkhangelsk. The region has offered Belarus the use of its facilities for handling containers, mineral fertilizers, vehicles, and oversized cargo.Governor Tsybulsky noted that the Arkhangelsk Region is also prepared to set up a dedicated terminal for Belarusian cargo within the port’s planned deep-water area, aiming to support longer-term partnership.“We are ready to regard Belarusian partners as anchor shippers. This is a strategic priority for us,” Tsybulsky said. “It is no longer just about making use of the port’s current capacity, but about jointly developing future logistics infrastructure for Belarus’s long-term export needs.”President Lukashenko, for his part, highlighted successful cooperation in the forestry and mining sectors, noting that Belarus supplies the Arkhangelsk Region with modern equipment and expects it to deliver strong performance.Currently, more than 2,500 units of municipal and agricultural machinery, along with 151 natural-gas-powered buses and 63 mining trucks, are in operation across the region. Given the scale of this fleet, the parties proposed establishing a multi-brand service center for Belarusian manufacturers in Pomorye, which could serve as a maintenance hub for northwestern Russia.“Today, the Arkhangelsk Region and the Republic of Belarus have built a solid foundation for cooperation – in trade, industry, logistics, science, education, and the humanitarian sphere,” said Tsybulsky. “Our next shared task is to turn that accumulated potential into new practical projects.”
