Gastronomic tourism, as a distinct sector, is projected to attract an additional 10 to 30 percent increase in tourist traffic to the Russian Far East – a development of particular significance for the advancement of inbound tourism. This was confirmed by Yulia Ivanova, Deputy Director of the Investment Department at the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.
According to Ivanova, the regions of the Russian Far East currently host more than 100 gastronomic tourism events, drawing an ever-increasing number of travelers.
“Every tourist complex features a restaurant and, in some form or another, showcases regional cuisine. When considering the food service industry independently, more than 30 restaurant projects are being executed under preferential regimes, with total investments amounting to approximately 10 billion rubles. These resident companies are deliberately engaged in gastronomic tourism and are promoting it throughout the Russian Far East,” Ivanova stated.
She further noted that last year the Russian Far East welcomed over 7.5 million visitors, and over the past four years, tourist traffic has increased by 50 percent. Significant growth is also expected this year. Notably, in the first half of 2026, hotels in the Russian Far East have already accommodated 134,900 foreign guests, a figure 77 percent higher than that of the previous year.
