During a briefing with his deputies following his working trip to the Russian Far East and Siberia, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin issued a directive to explore the quesion on establishing a data center in Yakutia.The Press Service of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reports that a data center would provide the region with supplementary computing capacity for developing AI, digital services, and high-tech projects.During his working trip to Yakutsk, Mikhail Mishustin reviewed local designs and noted the importance of creating conditions for scaling these solutions, calling the data “the mineral wealth of the 21st century.”“We learned about a platform for optimizing library management. To develop this sort of services and design more digital solutions, the republic certainly needs additional computing power,” the Prime Minister said.Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko and the regional administration of Yakutia will be in charge of exploring the issue.A data center is an advanced-technology complex for storing and processing large amounts of data. It is necessary for most modern digital services, AI training and application, as well as for scientific research and large-scale technology projects.
