The village of Gornoknyazevsk in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area will host the annual ethno-cultural festival on August 8.
The festival is designed to promote cross-cultural dialogue and reinforce the bonds among the country’s many ethnic groups. Visitors can expect a deep dive into the traditions, material culture, and everyday life of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North.
Artisans from Yamal will lead hands-on workshops, allowing festival-goers to craft their own traditional souvenirs, while musical and theatrical performances by northern artists offer a vivid window into the region’s cultural heritage. Children will enjoy a prizes-for-all raffle, and proceeds from a charitable fair will go toward supporting special military operation participants and their families.
This year’s edition places a special focus on family and spiritual values. For the first time, the program will include a traditional Nenets wedding ceremony, performed in accordance with centuries-old customs of the North.
