Mikhail Mishustin wraps up working trip to Yakutia

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin began his tour of the Far East in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where he visited the Yakutsk Republican Cancer Center and the Kvartal Truda creative cluster. He also held a working meeting with the region’s Governor, Aisen Nikolayev, according to the government press service.

At the cancer center, the Prime Minister toured the facility’s departments and laboratories, reviewed its operations, and spoke with patients and volunteers. The center, which opened in 2024, meets the highest standards of modern medical care. It comprises a 235-bed inpatient unit and an outpatient clinic with a capacity of 210 visits per day, and is equipped with over 1,880 pieces of state-of-the-art medical equipment.
“This is a truly large-scale project, and I am very pleased to see so many Russian-made solutions being used here,” Mishustin noted.
The Kvartal Truda cluster in Yakutsk is the first creative hub in the Far Eastern Federal District to benefit from a preferential regime within an advanced development territory (TAD)0.. The site brings together 230 resident companies from various creative industries. During his visit, the Prime Minister was given a demonstration of AI-powered solutions for libraries as well as master plans for the development of Far Eastern cities.

At the conclusion of his visit, the Prime Minister held a meeting with Governor Nikolayev to discuss the socioeconomic development of Yakutia.
The regional head noted that Yakutia continues to deliver strong results in natural resource extraction: “We remain the undisputed leader in the country in diamond production. <…> For the first time in our history, we have taken first place in silver production, having mined 586 metric tons last year. For the past three years, we have held second place in both coal and gold production, with consistently robust growth. We mined 52.5 million tons of coal, largely thanks to the Elga Coal Basin project, where the country’s largest open-pit coal mine and a coal processing plant with an annual capacity of 38 million tons have been built.”
Aisen Nikolayev also reported that, with government support, Yakutia is actively expanding its energy infrastructure. Energy facilities with a combined capacity of 2 GW are currently under construction, with some already coming online.
In turn, Mishustin highlighted the region’s developing infrastructure, which he said would help attract the skilled personnel needed to meet Yakutia’s development goals.
“Reliable communications, the expansion of digital services, and energy – all of this requires qualified professionals. And qualified professionals want access to high-quality social infrastructure,” he emphasized.
