Kamchatka’s main highways, which were damaged by an unusually harsh winter, have now been restored, according to the official website of Kamchatka Territory Governor Vladimir Solodov. Regional authorities say this year’s roadwork program is the largest ever undertaken in the region.The progress was reviewed during a meeting between Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov and Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin.At present, several key projects are being carried out within road construction season. Completed projects include repairs to the federal highway from the Khlebozavod ring road to the city limits, as well as a section of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky-Milkovo highway near Razdolny.Repairs are also moving ahead on the road to Paratunka. More than 10 kilometers of pavement are being resurfaced on the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky highway, while work continues on other sections of roads across Kamchatka Territory.“The most important result is the quality of the work, which residents themselves are noticing. People should be able to travel on safe, high-quality roads,” Vladimir Solodov said.
