The joint development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island will take center stage at the Second Russia-China Forum, set to run September 4-6 in Khabarovsk, according to the press service of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.The event is expected to draw over 3,000 participants from Russia and China, positioning it as one of the main business platforms of the year in the Far East. The program features more than 40 themed sessions, alongside business, sports, and cultural events dedicated to bilateral cooperation.Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, underscored that while China is Russia’s strategic partner, the development of good-neighborly relations is now equally paramount.“Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island could become one such point of contact,” Trutnev said. “We must demonstrate the interaction between our countries as an example of harmonious cooperation between states, businesses, and individuals who want to be part of the Russia-China friendship.”The forum’s centerpiece will be the plenary session, “Russian-Chinese Cooperation: Together Towards Sustainable Development and Prosperity.” The discussion will examine the current state and prospects of the bilateral strategic partnership, the situation in border regions, and identify new avenues for cooperation.Khabarovsk Territory Governor Dmitry Demeshin noted that the forum serves as a space where economics, culture, science, and youth initiatives reinforce one another, and that the program will be structured to offer growth opportunities for every participant.“The development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island will be a striking example of this approach,” Demeshin emphasized. “It will host production sites, tourist routes, and spaces for festivals, student exchanges, and meetings. At the forum, we will assemble this mosaic – discussing not only the conditions for resident companies but also scenarios for how the area will become a venue for vibrant dialogue between the people of our two countries.”
