First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Abramov, chaired a meeting of a working group to draft a new regional socio-economic development strategy until 2036 and the 2042 planning period. The document is being drafted on instructions from Governor Dmitry Demeshin, as per the press service of the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory. The document will set forth high-priority goals and objectives of the region’s development, as well as tools for achieving them. According to Sergei Abramov, the new strategy will be reflected in the current work of government agencies and will be consistently implemented.Attending the meeting was Vostokgosplan Director Mikhail Kuznetsov who, on behalf of his research agency, suggested the strategy’s general goal, specifically, attracting people, capital and technologies into the Khabarovsk Territory.The region will be expected to increase its contribution to the Russian economy and to expand cooperation with the Asia Pacific Region’s countries. For this purpose, the industrial complex, the transport infrastructure and the scientific potential of the Khabarovsk Territory will develop. Moreover, the document will outline prospects for developing new technological spheres, including robotics, microelectronics and the automotive industry.The new strategy will devote separate attention to developing human capital, creating hi-tech jobs and additional opportunities for the professional realization of residents in all cities and districts of the Khabarovsk Territory.The document is to be finalized in October 2026 and later submitted to the head of the region for consideration.

“It is important to preserve continuity of strategic management in the region; the new strategy should follow up on the current strategy and should not run counter to its provisions; nor should it annul results that have already been achieved,” he added.
