The Murmansk Region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, and the Nenets Autonomous Area have emerged as the leaders in a ranking of Russian regions by housing affordability, according to a study published by RIA Novosti.Also among the top ten of the ranking were the Magadan Region, the Chukotka Autonomous Area, the Kamchatka Territory, the Komi Republic, the Sakhalin Region, and the Khabarovsk Territory.In compiling the ranking, experts analyzed the minimum number of years required for a family with one child to save for purchasing an apartment. The study notes that a family’s ability to acquire a new apartment is bolstered by relatively low housing prices and high median wages.
