Construction of 2 GW of new power generation capacity is currently underway in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), with the facilities scheduled to be commissioned over the next three years. This was announced by Head of the Republic Aisen Nikolayev during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin.According to Nikolayev, construction is progressing at the Novolenskaya Thermal Power Plant, the Neryungri State District Power Plant (GRES), and Yakutskaya State District Power Plant-2 (GRES-2). In addition, Unit 4 of the Yakutskaya Gas Engine Power Plant (GPA-TES) is scheduled to be commissioned later this year.“Never before in our history – not in Soviet times, and certainly not in the post-Soviet era – has such a large volume of power generation capacity been built,” Aisen Nikolayev said.
