Two thirds of the debt on budget loans, a total of almost 17 billion rubles, will be written off for 17 regions, including: the Amur and Murmansk regions, the Jewish Autonomous Area, the Khabarovsk Territory and the Chukotka Autonomous Area, the Government press service reports. The above entities invested the funds in carrying out national projects, improving housing and utilities infrastructure and developing backbone populated areas, including urban master-plans in the Far Eastern Federal District and the Russian Arctic. The money was also channeled to recapitalize regional industrial development funds, provide guarantee and financial support for investment projects, renew the mass transit fleet and relocate residents of dilapidated housing.“The resources now coming to in the regional budgets may be applied for improving the quality of life and supporting the projects aimed at further economic growth in Russian constituent entities,” said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
