Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev stated that the systemic work for environmental rehabilitation of the Baikal territories will continue.
During his working visit the Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting on the renovation of the region’s sewage treatment facilities in Ulan-Ude.
The main emphasis was made on two key projects: upgrade of sewage treatment facilities in Ulan-Ude and Severobaykalsk. Dmitry Patrushev emphasized that these facilities are of critical importance for the entire republic.
“Both projects are of high social importance. The quality of life of over half a million region’s residents largely depend on their proper functioning. Moreover, the quality of the wastewater, of course, has an impact on the condition of Lake Baikal and its ecosystem. This is why all of us are interested in a quickest accomplishment of these projects,” Dmitry Patrushev said.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister issued instructions to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Construction to elaborate solutions to all the problem issues arising during the renovation of the sewage treatment facilities in Ulan-Ude and Severobaykalsk, and to increase work pace.
