The Far East continues to post high demographic indicators due to a large number of families with many children, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Elvira Nurgaliyeva told the Arctic.ru website in an exclusive commentary. According to Nurgaliyeva, third and subsequent children account for 35 percent of all newborns in Russia’s Far East.“We are proud to note that Far Eastern birth rates exceed average nationwide levels. We have ensured a stable birth rate increment using the Far Eastern demographic package,” Elvira Nurgaliyeva said.Far Eastern women successfully assert themselves as mothers and as leading professionals. According to the Deputy Minister, women hold over 80 percent of municipal and public-servant positions in the Far East, and they make a substantial contribution to developing master plans for 25 cities.The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic and the Senezh management workshop have launched special educational programs the “Woman Leader: North and Far East”; these programs are implemented successfully since 2020.“Today, relying on strategic long-term master-plan documents for 25 cities and after obtaining unique educational programs for the Far East, they virtually implement projects and transform cities in the Far East,” Elvira Nurgaliyeva added.
