In all, tenants moved into 4,000 apartments in nine regions of the Far Eastern Federal District under the Affordable Rental Housing Program for the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, as per Russian Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev.According to the Presidential Envoy, the highly popular program helps attract important specialists, including doctors, teachers and industrial workers; it also helps them to settle down in the region and provides comfortable living conditions.According to the press service of the government of the Trans-Baikal Territory, 124 new apartments have been allotted to tenants in the town of Zabaikalsk. The area of rental housing on Yuzhnaya Street is 5,100 square meters. Subsidies from federal and regional budgets will reduce monthly rental payments for a 23.2 square meter apartment to 4,400 rubles; and it will cost 12,000 rubles to rent the largest, 63.3 square meter, apartment.The territorial government has already selected categories of tenants, specifically, valuable specialists, including customs officials, medical personnel and educators.“The program is implemented rapidly, and over one-third of all apartments are currently occupied. Apart from attracting and resettling personnel in the region, it helps boost living standards, expand housing construction volumes and tax proceeds,” DOM.RF General Director Vitaly Mutko noted.In all, 1,474 apartments will be built and leased to tenants in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The region has already financed construction of 13 rental projects comprising 1,397 apartments, and 669 of them are currently occupied.
