The Russian Government has added new areas necessary for building infrastructure facilities for the Korsakov seaport in the Sakhalin Region. The relevant order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as per the Government press service report.
“The attached land is intended for building a multifunctional cargo handling center, coal, oil and bunker terminals, as well as a terminal for transshipping gas condensate, for underwater structures and other port infrastructure facilities, the report says.
According to the Government explications, new land plots will help develop the port, which is a key transport hub in the Far Eastern basin.
Located in the Sakhalin Region, the sea port is linked with the Kuril Islands and East Asian ports by regular lines. Korsakov serves cargo and passenger vessels, floating drill rigs, and also provides transshipment of various types of cargo and fish products.
