This year communities of indigenous small –numbered peoples of the North living in the Murmansk Region’s northern areas will be able to request subsidies from the regional budget starting May 28 and until June 26, as per the press service of the region’s Domestic Policy Ministry.
Sami communities living in their traditional territories will be able to obtain funding for supporting and expanding their traditional activities and the handicrafts industry. Each applicant is entitled to not more than 600,000 rubles annually and can use the funding to purchase merchandise, tools and implements listed as material-production stocks.
Subsidies can also be used to pay for the demarcation of land plots, cadastral surveying and the cadastral registration of land plots, for drafting forest management and exploitation plans and for power network connections.
Applicants wishing to take part in the selection procedure should post their requests in the Electronic Budget network.
