“The small-capacity fleet is a multi-role affair. It can engage in coastal fishing, work during several fishing seasons, or act as an auxiliary. But these ships are 30 years old on average and over 200 vessels are to be decommissioned before 2030,” he said.
Right now, the CDRFEA, jointly with the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, are working to reduce the requirements placed on these vessels.
“Orders for the small-capacity fleet will be placed and it will be built entirely in the Russian Far East, based on 90 percent of domestic components, something that rules out any rescheduling. Far Eastern shipyards have projects of this kind and the costs are acceptable,” he stressed.

Director General of RosMorPort Company Sergei Pylin focused on prospects for upgrading the port infrastructure, noting that the industry’s development plan included both major terminal projects and local solutions in remote areas.
They have implemented modern coal terminal projects: Port Elga, VaninoTrans Coal, and the seaport of Sukhodol.
“In the East, we will implement container transshipment projects. Transshipment of containers and general cargoes will be organized at the seaport of Korsakov. If necessary, remote sea terminals located next to coal and ore fields in Chukotka and Sakhalin will be developed,” he said.
He dwelled separately on efforts to develop a navigation equipment plant and presented two models, summer and all-season, of light-optical instruments.

“These instruments have better technical specifications than their counterparts: a range of 5.2 nautical miles, three operating modes, and a high degree of protection from dust and water, including a possibility of long stays under water,” he said.
Primorye Government’s Minister of Professional Education and Employment Sergei Dubovitsky discussed the personnel training system in the Primorye Territory.
“It is important to see what specialists will be in demand at the time of students’ graduation. The economy is changing very rapidly, with new technologies, including AI, and new challenges emerging,” he said.
