As of today, there are 314 Arctic Zone residents from the Murmansk Region, which puts it in the lead in this regard, Deputy Governor Svetlana Panfilova told the local Government at its meeting.
In her report on the Murmansk Region’s development prospects, she noted that 90 percent of residents were small and medium-sized businesses.
The regional investment portfolio includes over 300 projects worth a total of 3.2 trillion rubles for the next 10 years. The key projects are developing the Murmansk transport hub and the port of Lavna, developing the Kolmozero lithium deposit, building the Kola nuclear power plant -2, and implementing the gasification program. In addition, the Murmansk Region is building a construction center for large-tonnage maritime structures, which has no parallels anywhere in the world.
Ms. Panfilova also revealed plans to build an industrial park. The project is included in the long-term plan of socioeconomic development of the Murmansk agglomeration for the period until 2035 and has been supported at the federal level. The industrial park will enable entrepreneurs to cut capital costs by between 35 and 40 percent, reduce industrial launch timeframes from 24 to 6 or 8 months, and localize supply chains in the Kola agglomeration.
“We have consistently worked to create a comfortable business and investment environment in the region. The industrial park will be yet another driver of the Murmansk Region’s economic growth, a point of attraction for small and medium-sized businesses, and a base for creating new highly productive jobs,” Svetlana Panfilova stressed.
