The production program of the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex includes the construction of nearly 30 vessels, and more than 100 ships overall under the Northern Sea Route development program, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said during a visit to the Zvezda shipyard in the Primorye Territory.

“Developing oil and gas fields without Zvezda is simply impossible. Today, the Northern Sea Route is the world’s only safe and reliable maritime corridor, and its development is essential. Zvezda’s production program alone includes nearly 30 vessels. And if we look at the broader Northern Sea Route program, we are talking about more than a hundred ships,” Trutnev noted.

As Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the United Russia Party’s General Council and First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council, noted during his visit to the facility, the withdrawal of a number of foreign companies from Russia has accelerated the development of domestic industry and intensified work on the Northern Sea Route project.

“This is economically beneficial and creates additional opportunities for transport and logistics links with the rest of the world. The government has introduced support programs for enterprises, and production facilities of this kind should be backed through preferential leasing mechanisms and affordable financing,” Vladimir Yakushev explained.

The Zvezda shipyard is designed to build large-tonnage vessels, ice-class ships, specialized maritime equipment, and other types of marine vessels with a displacement of up to 350,000 tons, including several categories of vessels that have never before been produced in Russia.
The construction of the shipyard’s infrastructure is continuing simultaneously with the execution of its production program. Zvezda’s order portfolio currently includes around 60 civilian vessels, with more than 20 actively under construction. To date, 16 ships have been launched and eight delivered to customers. Among them are five Aframax-type oil tankers, an AST69K Arctic shuttle tanker, an MR-class product carrier tanker, and an Arc7 Arctic LNG carrier.
