First of all, northern deliveries should meet real requirements of people living in remote territories, Khabarovsk Territory Governor Dmitry Demeshin said on his social media accounts.
“Northern deliveries are not just deliveries. This is about living standards and confidence in tomorrow for thousands of families,” the head of the region noted.
According to the Governor, the Khabarovsk Territory is to receive 51,000 metric tons of foodstuffs in 2026 under the northern deliveries program or one-third more on 2025.
The head of the region noted that he had received complaints from residents of far-away villages who said it was impossible to obtain goods with a long shelf life.
“To prevent this from happening in the future, we will appoint supervisors to every northern district,” Dmitry Demeshin added.
The region has already introduced multiple changes. This past April, regular food deliveries were launched to |Okhotsk and Ayan. Most consignments are delivered by water, thereby making food prices more affordable.
The regional budget will receive an additional 33 million rubles for delivering 28 types of socially significant products; this will make it possible to subsidize deliveries of 1,270 metric tons of merchandise.
The Governor also mentioned an agreement with the joint maritime operator Rosatom Arktika for delivering part of fuel batches to the Khabarovsk Territory. There are plans to deliver 23,200 metric tons of petroleum and 11,200 metric tons of coal to the region.
The head of the region also noted the need to develop and expand local production facilities and the system of trade and logistic centers.
“We will install greenhouses; the experience of other regions shows that this is quite feasible in the North. We will also support initiatives of indigenous small –numbered peoples who want to breed reindeer and to engage in agriculture,” Dmitry Demeshin noted.
As per the Governor’s instruction, warehouses for storing dry products and refrigerators will be established in northern districts. This will make it possible to deliver large batches of goods and to store them, without waiting for the next navigation season.
