On May 17, the 10th Russia-China EXPO opened in Harbin. Participants outlined their plans for strengthening collaboration between the two nations.
Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province Zhang Guozhi highlighted that last year, bilateral trade volume between Guangdong and Russia reached 124 billion yuan ($18 billion) last year.

“Guangdong will remain committed to implementing President Xi Jinping’s directives to further align the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union, deepen regional collaboration with Russia, and strive to deliver new and more substantial results,” she emphasized.

The deputy governor also extended an invitation from local authorities to Russian companies to participate in exhibitions in Guangdong.
“We also support introducing Guangdong Province’s products to the Russian market and urge both sides to enhance exhibition exchanges and trade, thereby expanding bilateral trade,” added Zhang Guozhi.
On the EXPO floor, Rostec Corporation discussed its joint venture with China to develop an advanced next-generation heavy helicopter. According to Viktor Kladov, Rostec’s Director for International Cooperation, the payload capacity of the helicopter will range from 14 to 16 tons. The helicopter’s design is led by Chinese partners, while Rostec is responsible for developing individual components and assemblies.
Currently, the project is undergoing a state review in China; upon completion, practical development work will begin.

“It will be a sensation when this jointly developed helicopter hits the market... This is such a landmark project – it represents not merely cooperation, but integrated joint development, production, and the launch of an interesting and sought-after aircraft for the Chinese market,” Viktor Kladov emphasized.

Primorye Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako addressed the expansion of tourism cooperation.
According to Kozhemyako, approximately 400,000 Chinese tourists visited Primorye last year. This growth in visitor numbers was driven by the implementation of visa-free travel arrangements between the two countries.
With the destination’s rising popularity, the region intends to expand air service with China.

“Currently, 50 flights operate weekly between Primorye and Chinese cities, and we are working to increase that frequency to 70 flights per week,” Oleg Kozhemyako reported.
