Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev, chaired a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Trans-Baikal Territory, as per the press service of the Corporation for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic.Trutnev noted during the meeting that the territory had established two priority development areas, and that 114 investment projects worth over one trillion rubles were being implemented with state support.“The Trans-Baikal Territory is in the middle of a list of Far Eastern regions in terms of investment volumes; but, considering the territory’s initial positions, I believe that this is a good result. In 2025, the territory’s industrial production index grew by 4.6 percent; this is quite impressive. In 2025, consolidated budget revenues grew by 17.7 percent, and regional revenues soared by 32.6 percent. The main sectors include the mining industry, energy, housing construction, transportation and industrial production facilities, tourism and agriculture.“The Zabaikalye territory of advanced development is among the main mechanisms for attracting investment. We have already invested 450 million rubles out of the projected one-trillion-ruble volumes, and we have created 16,000 jobs. In 2025, 30 new investment agreements worth 75 billion rubles and stipulating the creation of 4,500 jobs were signed. Eleven projects were implemented, and 1,500 jobs created,” the governor noted.Yury Trutnev instructed the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, as well as the Trans-Baikal Territory and other Far Eastern regions, to draft proposals incentivizing companies to create favorable working conditions workers from among the local population.According to Trutnev, the Trans-Baikal Territory utilizes the Presidential Single Far Eastern Subsidy mechanism which has made it possible to build and reconstruct 221 social facilities. The Far Eastern Hectare and Far Eastern Mortgage programs are being implemented. Today, 13,500 families have improved their living conditions, and almost 10,000 people have obtained land plots. As per the President’s instruction, local authorities are implementing master plans for the development of Chita and Krasnokamensk. The plans call for building and rebuilding 83 facilities worth over 300 billion rubles. Of this number, 27 are located in Chita, and 56 in Krasnokamensk. Work is now underway at 18 facilities in Chita and Zabaikalsk.
