The Arctic plays a crucial role in the country’s economic development, Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with government officials focused on the development of the Russian Arctic zone and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor.

“I have noted on many occasions that this region holds special, strategic importance for our country, for the Russian economy, for expanding Russia’s industrial potential and for ensuring national security and safeguarding our sovereignty,” Vladimir Putin emphasized.

The President said that work to strengthen the region’s logistics network will continue, covering sea and river ports, railways, roads, and airports. He stressed that improving this infrastructure would bolster the Arctic’s role globally, adding that the Northern Trans-Arctic route is among the safest and most reliable options, especially as conflicts continue to disrupt international transport chains.

“I want to emphasize once again that we are open to cooperation with all interested countries, rather than competition or confrontation ,” Vladimir Putin added.
