Officials discussed conditions for accident-free navigation on border rivers, specifically, the Amur, Ussuri, Argun, Sungacha rivers, and Lake Khanka at a meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Navigation, as per the press service of the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport.During the meeting, the sides agreed to change the location of river shipways in accordance with diagrams for installing shoreline navigational signs in 24 sectors. They agreed to relocate 56 signs, including 30 signs on Russian territory. Moreover, Russia undertakes to install 92 out of the 194 new floating signs.Experts will survey 79 sectors for evaluating navigation conditions; of this number, the Russian side will survey 31 sectors.The participants noted positive developments during cooperation between Russian and Chinese oversight agencies. They exchanged draft versions of navigation regulations for border rivers in Russian and Chinese languages.Following the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly monitor navigation safety for river-sea vessels via the border sector of the Amur River.
