Experts specifically rated its performance as it touched down on and took off from a drilling rig in freezing temperatures.“The specialists held 66 flights and 22 ground races under Yakutia’s extreme cold conditions. These trials confirm the aircraft’s specifications and make it possible to expand the temperature limits of its use,” a Rostec spokesman said.The Mil Mi-171A3 multi-purpose helicopter is intended for freight and passenger carriage, offshore operations, and search and rescue works. It is the first entirely Russian-made helicopter that has been specially designed for flights to offshore drilling rigs and other related chores.
