Salaries for municipal employees and staff of subordinate organizations will be raised by 20-30 percent starting May 1, Magadan Region Governor Sergei Nosov announced at a regional government meeting. The move is intended to create a fair labor remuneration system for all public-sector workers. The changes will affect approximately 9,000 people employed at 104 regional institutions, as well as about 1,000 employees at local self-government authorities. The salary increases apply to workers who were not covered by the May presidential executive orders or whose pay lags behind that of similar specialists in other organizations.“The alignment of the labor remuneration system has been underway since the beginning of the year. We proceed from the principle that equal labor should be equally compensated. We also have funds reserved for municipal and subordinated institutions,” the governor emphasized.About 1.5 billion rubles have been earmarked for these purposes from May through the end of the year.
