The first drone was launched under the MedDRONES project in the Khangalassky District and delivered biological materials from the village of Oktyomtsy to the central district hospital in the city of Pokrovsk in just 20 minutes, reports the press service of the government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).The project aims to streamline medical processes and to improve the quality of medical services in the context of regional and territorial specifics.“These solutions can become part of a new medical model for hard-to-reach territories. Most importantly, these technologies should start working for people as soon as possible. They should help doctors, reduce diagnostic deadlines and make medical treatment more affordable,” head of the region Aisen Nikolayev said.There are plans to spread this delivery method to other districts in Yakutia and to continue expanding drone application spheres. The region now actively uses drones for monitoring wildfires and in agriculture. Drones also deliver foodstuffs to remote areas.
