The integrated readiness test for operations under different fire hazard regimes involved 309 officers and 35 units of special equipment, Press Service of the Kamchatka Territory’s Government reports.
The participants drilled commandeering forces and fire-extinguishing means from plants and organizations under the Territory’s master plan for forest wildfire suppression and emergency response. They also checked specialized firefighting equipment, hardware, appliances and navigation and communications aids for readiness.
“We have played out several scenarios on major forest wildfires. The exercise involved practically all municipalities. We have also tested the video surveillance system that the Forestry and Game Husbandry Ministry has installed at the Milkovsky, Atlasovsky and Klyuchevsky forestry departments. The Fire Watchman system is based on the use of artificial intelligence. It’s an online method that helps us to monitor the situation and detect conflagrations in a territory of woodlands measuring over 211,000 hectares,” Kamchatka Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Shchipitsyn said.
It is noted that specialists have rated performance by the regional forestry monitoring service and its interaction with unified duty dispatcher services in municipal districts. They also drilled the timely assignment of tiers of response to wildfires and a pattern of threat information transfer to populated localities and economic facilities.
