Maritime Council under Primorye Governor resumes operations

Headed by Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, the Council will include representatives of the Customs Service, port administrations, commercial structures, and related associations, the website for official legal information reports.
“The Council is to implement national maritime policy priorities in the Pacific region sector and decisions approved by the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation,” says the resolution.
The Council’s key goals are as follows:
  • to devise measures for implementing the national maritime policy priorities in the Pacific Ocean’s sector in the Primorye Territory,
  • to coordinate the work done by the regional authorities involved in the maritime activities
  • to ensure the implementation of decisions approved by the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation in the Primorye Territory,
  • to draw up proposals on issues related to maritime activities,
  • to address issues related to maritime activities in the Primorye Territory,
  • to draw up recommendations for public authorities as well as for research and other organizations engaged in maritime activities.
The Council will focus on developing shipbuilding, including a program to build icebreakers and ships for the Navy. Its agenda also includes shelf development projects for the Sea of Japan, the Okhotsk Sea, and the Bering Sea. It will also handle LNG exports.
