Patrushev: Russia drafting project to develop the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic corridor

The Russian Maritime Board and the Government of Russia are drafting a comprehensive project titled Development of the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, Russian Presidential Aide – Maritime Board Chair Nikolai Patrushev noted at the board’s meeting.
The Maritime Board drafted measures to ensure safe navigation via strategic high-seas routes, Patrushev said. Aiming to establish a new system of international transport logistics, based on sustained and safe routes, the Maritime Board and the Government of Russia started drafting a comprehensive project, Development of the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, he added.
The implementation of this project will facilitate the comprehensive development of territories of the Russian Arctic Zone and the Far East; the freight potential, as well as coastal inland, international and transit freight and passenger traffic volumes, will expand.
The project prioritizes the need for research and development projects to design modern ships and vessels, as well as marine hardware, equipment and state-of-the-art technologies for developing resources and spaces of the World ocean.
