The passenger terminal which is 3.5 times larger than the older facility will allow the airport to handle 1,000 more passengers per hour, as per the press service of the Amur Region Government.“A new passenger terminal is expected to give an additional boost to the socioeconomic development of the Amur Region and the entire Russian Far East, as well as to expand tourism and promote business ties with foreign countries,” President Vladimir Putin noted during the official opening ceremony.The 26,000 square meter terminal has 23 check-in counters, including eight counters for self-check-ins. Luggage transporters are flush with the floor, making it easier to weigh and check in suitcases and bags; the new BAGS ID technology allows passengers to check in luggage themselves.The terminal has 14 elevators and six escalators, as well as two galleries; each of them has two horizontal sidewalks. All these solutions will make traveling faster and easier.The new terminal has a distinctive architecture, including a unique triangular folded roof and a glass façade symbolizing a lotus, hills and creating the image of a rocket lifting off from Vostochny Cosmodrome.
