During their cooperation, specialists from the Nature Management Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University will implement multiple projects in the field of nature conservation and ecology, as per the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
There are plans to develop cutting-edge technologies for manufacturing highly effective peat sorbents and to study reforestation processes based on genetic-selection concepts.
“Joint research projects can yield precious scientific results and facilitate the development of Arctic science; they can become a powerful driving force of progress and economic development,” Deputy Chair of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Alexei Trukhanov, noted following talks with Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region Ivan Dementyev.
According to Alexei Trukhanov, joint Belarusian and Russian initiatives will make it possible to more effectively study climatic processes and to develop technologies for the sustainable utilization of resources in the Russian Arctic Zone.
The sides are currently drafting a joint action plan for 2026.
