The region received 130 million rubles for equipping and retooling traditional sectors, as per the press service of the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Area.Funding, allocated by the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, will subsidize two key sectors. In all, 80 million rubles will help develop the reindeer-breeding sector. The remaining 50 million rubles will be transferred to communities hunting for marine mammals.The funding will provide steady incomes for those working in traditional economic sectors and preserve the unique lifestyle of the region’s indigenous ethnic groups.
