The publication with a print run of 500 copies is intended for students of the Negidal language and specialists researching Tungus-Manchurian languages, as per the press service of the Russian Association of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
“We see this dictionary as a tool for preserving the culture and language of members of a small ethnic group, rather than just a teaching aid. We would like schools and agencies interested in mother languages to use it,” Lyubov Odzyal, a member of the Coordination Council of the Russian Association of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East and president of a regional public organization, noted.
The themed dictionary with comments honors the memory of Anna Nadeina who helped preserve the Negidal language and culture, and who co-authored an online textbook on the language’s phonetics.
