The regions signed the agreement during a forum of traditional economic sectors for attracting young people into the reindeer-breeding industry, according to social media accounts of the Chukotka Autonomous Area Governor Vladislav Kuznetsov.“Our two areas are key national reindeer-breeding regions. Yamal boasts important experience that can also prove useful for our area,” the head of the region noted.In an effort to implement the project, the regions have started drafting a roadmap that stipulates visits by reindeer-breeding families from the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area to Chukotka for exchanging experience.Vladislav Kuznetsov noted that the region aimed to retool the reindeer-breeding industry; reindeer-breeding farms will receive 25 pieces of special-purpose equipment throughout 2026. Chukotka is also introducing additional financial support measures and bonuses for successful reindeer-breeders; this will help raise the industry’s prestige.
