The Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory will draft a plan of dredging operations and port modernization projects for the region’s remote towns; it will also compile infrastructure development and renovation plans for the port of Dikson, Deputy Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Valery Semyonov said at a plenary session during the 11th Scientific and Practical Conference “The Russian Far East and the Arctic: Sustainable Development.”
According to Semyonov, it is necessary to create a regional system for providing remote territories with basic goods all year round. Under the current system of northern deliveries, these regions receive shipments from May until October.
Semyonov noted that expanded freight traffic via the Yenisei River will make it possible to reduce the burden on the local railway infrastructure linking Russia with China and to redirect shipments to the ports of Dudinka and Dikson, thus helping expand Northern Sea Route logistics.
The regional government is drafting the action plan together with the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime Board.
