Number one priority is to finalize the electrification of the 799-kilometer Volochayevka-Komsomolsk-on-Amur-Vanino line, the Government’s press service reports following a meeting of the commission tasked with implementing rail infrastructure development projects in Siberia and the Russian Far East.
To prepare for the main stages of the construction and erection works in the Eastern Operating Domain (Eastern Polygon), builders’ camps have been organized and the assembly of tunnel boring machines has come under way at the Severomuisky and Kodarsky tunnels.
In 2025, 249.8 kilometers of additional main lines and station tracks were laid, with 6 stations and 65 engineering structures built or overhauled.
The Eastern Polygon upgrade project is aimed at increasing the throughput capacity of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberia mainlines.
