The document’s aim is to formalize high-priority aspects and objectives of supporting small indigenous Northern peoples in the region and to improve mechanisms and measures for their sustained socioeconomic development, the press service of the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra reports.
“The concept passed large-scale public hearings at municipalities of the autonomous area and was approved by public organizations and associations of indigenous Northern peoples,” said Director of the Yugra Domestic Policy Department Kirill Kharitonov.
The document is synchronized with the Russian strategy of the state nationalities policy and the federal concept for the sustained development of small indigenous peoples in the North, Siberia and the Far East.
