Five Arctic nations endorse Polar bear protection plan until 2028

Representatives of Russia, the United States, Canada, Norway and Denmark have approved a joint action plan until 2028 at the 9th meeting of parties to the international Agreement on the Conservation of Polar Bears, the Kremlin website reports.
Their strategy implies interaction with the specialists from the International Union for Conservation of Nature studying the polar bear and from the Arctic Council working group on the conservation of arctic flora and fauna.
The meeting participants summed up the results of implementing the Circumpolar Action Plan for Polar Bears for 2015-2025.
They noted that, over the past ten years, detailed maps of the animal population density for the entire Arctic have been created, a unified system for collecting data on conflicts between polar bears and humans has been introduced, and preparations have been made for a comprehensive census of the predator in the waters of the Arctic Ocean.
