Deposits of this strategically important raw material for the construction industry are located in the Plesetsk District. Their reserves are estimated at approximately 50 million cubic meters, regional Governor Alexander Tsybulsky wrote on his Telegram channel.“The mineral resource base of the Arkhangelsk Region has been expanded with the discovery of three basalt deposits in the Plesetsk District: Morozovskoye, Lodya-2, and Khramovskoye. The total estimated reserves amount to around 50 million cubic meters,” the governor noted. He added that the deposits were ready for development, making it possible to move directly to industrial production without an additional investment phase and significantly reducing commissioning timelines.Basalt is widely used in road construction, industrial and transport infrastructure, as well as in the production of mineral wool, high-strength concrete, refractory materials, and thermal insulation products. Currently, the region has 12 known basalt deposits with total reserves exceeding 650 million cubic meters.“The development of new deposits creates additional opportunities for industrial growth, expands the production of non-metallic mineral resources, and strengthens the region’s position as a reliable supplier of mineral raw materials,” Alexander Tsybulsky added.
