The measures to raise the efficiency of the Arctic comprehensive rescue center in Vorkuta were discussed at the meeting between Komi Republic Governor Rostislav Goldstein and Deputy Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Roman Kurynin, the ministry’s press service reports.
“We have agreed next year to assess in detail its work, capacity and the technical means it has, and to decide jointly with the regional government what to do to upgrade it,” Kurynin said.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister highly appraised the region’s public warning system.
“Thanks to the purpose-oriented work its readiness is rated as the highest and the share of the population coverage is increasing with every year: from 82 percent in 2023 to 87 percent currently,” he noted.
According to Roman Kurynin, security in the Arctic is a priority to the ministry. The EMERCOM of Russia seeks to ensure safety along the entire Northern Sea Route.
