The effort to implement the President’s assignments is directed at promoting sustainable development in Arctic regions and ensuring Russia’s security in the Arctic, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov said at a meeting of the State Council’s commission.Draft presidential executive orders on approving the new versions of the Foundations of State Policy in the Arctic and the Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone for the period until 2050 have been submitted to the Government as instruments to be used in the comprehensive development of the Arctic zone.2.9 trillion rubles will be allocated for the implementation of over 500 projects in 15 Arctic agglomerations, 60 percent of which are funds from extra-budget sources.In addition, the Affordable Rental Accommodation program in effect in the Russian Far East will be extended to backbone Arctic populated localities, with over 5 billion rubles to be set aside for its implementation at stage one.
