The schoolchildren worked at educational establishments, cultural centers as well as at food industry and manufacturing enterprises. Their wages ranged from 8,000 to 50,000 rubles plus each school student received from 3,400 to 4,200 rubles from the employment service, depending on the employment district, and the northern hardship bonus, the regional labor and employment office reported.
“The first labor experience in the native republic will help get the young people interested in finding later a job in Karelia,” noted Director of the regional human resources center Vladimir Shestak.
During the future autumn vacations teenagers in Karelia will be offered jobs in the Petrozavodsk service industry, trade, schools and other publicly funded institutions. Plans are to employ about 2,000 teenagers in the region by the year end.
