The number of schools in Russia’s Arctic zone offering extended day programs rose by 6.5% in 2024, according to Alexander Reut, Director of the Department of State General Education Policy and Preschool Education at the Education Ministry.Speaking at a Federation Council roundtable on Ensuring the Sustainable Development of Arctic Communities, Alexander Reut highlighted the expansion of these programs. “We are actively developing extended day groups in schools, including those in the Arctic zone. The number of institutions providing these services has grown by 6.5%,” he said.Mr. Reut emphasized that extended day programs serve as a key social support tool, particularly in Arctic regions.
