Pushkin’s fairy tales to be translated into languages of small indigenous Northern peoples
Soviet animated cartoons, based on the great Russian poet’s fairy tales, will be translated into the Nenets, Nganasan, Evenk and Enets languages; the first books will come off the press in the Nganasan and Enets languages, as per the press service of the Association of Small Indigenous Northern Peoples.
This work is conducted in accordance with the project Language of Ancestors – The Future of Taimyr, implemented by the Taimyr Regional History Museum. The program includes the Native Language Tale drawing contest; there are also plans to deliver books and teaching aids to schools in the remote towns of Ust-Avam, Khatanga and Potapovo.
The 12-month project is to kick off in March.
