Government commission discusses healthcare and demography in the Russian Far East

Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko told a meeting of the Government Commission on Socioeconomic Development of the Russian Far East that 11 billion rubles would be allocated for the region’s healthcare in 2026.

Before 2030, it is planned to build 11 perinatal centers and 7 maternity welfare clinics. It is also intended to upgrade 56 healthcare facilities under master-plans in 10 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District.

According to Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, the FEFD has emerged third among other federal districts in terms of birthrates and manages to maintain this indicator at a level surpassing the average for Russia.

“This result has been achieved due to the down payment at the birth of first child, the 30-percent federal extra on the maternity capital, the easy-term Far Eastern mortgage program, one-million-ruble payment towards mortgage redemption at the birth of a third child and subsequent children, and other additional support measures comprising the Far Eastern demographic package,” he summed up.
