Nenets Autonomous Area reindeer breeders to receive over 60 vehicles from the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic

The Ministry will support the purchase of 62 snowmobiles and five off-road vehicles for 22 reindeer breeding farms and communities, as reported by Nenets Autonomous Area Governor Irina Gecht in her telegram channel.

The vehicles purchase under the state program of support for small peoples of the North implemented with the assistance from the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic will be financed in the amount of 89.7 million rubles.

Irina Gecht noted that the new snowmobile and off-road vehicles will help local residents to protect their herds from predators and let them quickly reach remote pastures.

“We will continue to upgrade the equipment for reindeer breeders in 2026–2027. Our plans include supply of transport, drones and upgrade of slaughterhouses,” she added.

The equipment will be distributed in the order of providing subsidies, which is based on such key factors as the availability of not less than 500 reindeers as of January 1, and operation on agricultural lands in the Nenets Autonomous Area.
